Random Message Generator

Get one random text message per press from a list of 658 lines: good morning and good night texts, love notes, friendship, family and motivational lines.

The Random Message Generator gives you one message per press, picked from 658 short texts we sorted into eleven moods. Some are quotes with the author named ("It is never too late to be what you might have been. - George Eliot"); most are the kind of line you would actually send to a person: a good morning text, a good night text, a note to a friend, something for a parent. There are no settings. Press Generate, read the line, press again if it is not the one.

What is in the list

The 658 messages are split almost evenly across these eleven categories, about 60 each:

  • Good morning and good night texts, the two most-searched kinds of message and the ones people send daily.
  • Love lines for a partner and friendship lines for a best friend.
  • Family messages for parents, siblings and kids.
  • Motivational and success quotes from names like Walt Disney, Maya Angelou, Amelia Earhart, Steve Jobs and Lao Tzu.
  • Life and attitude lines, the kind that end up as WhatsApp statuses.
  • Sad messages for when you need words for a hard day or a condolence text.
  • Short one-liners that fit an SMS or a sticky note.

The tool does not let you choose a category; every press draws from the whole list, so a good night text can follow a motivational quote. That is fine for browsing and less fine when you need a specific kind of message, in which case expect to press five or six times.

Ways people use it

  • A daily text to someone. A parent in another city, a partner on a work trip, a friend going through something. One press each morning gives you a line you would not have thought of.
  • WhatsApp or Instagram status. The attitude, life and short categories are written for exactly this length.
  • Card and gift-tag text. Birthday cards, a note in a lunchbox, a message on a cake order. The family and friendship lines cover most of these.
  • Group-chat icebreakers. Drop a random motivational quote into a team chat on Monday and let people argue with it.
  • Warm-ups for your own writing. Read three random lines, then write your own in the same shape. For a quick laugh instead, the Pun Generator and Random Compliment Generator are built for that.

Sending a message that lands

A random line works best as a starting point rather than the whole text. Add one specific detail: the person's name, the thing they said last week, the exam they have today. "Good morning, have a great day" is generic; "Good morning, Ana. Go get that presentation" is the same length and reads as yours. Quotes with an author are better sent as quotes ("Thought of you when I read this") than passed off as your own words, since most people recognize Steve Jobs when they see him.

If the occasion calls for something more playful, the Random Pickup Lines Generator and Riddle Generator are the two other one-press tools here, and all writing & AI tools has the longer-form generators.

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose a category, like only good morning messages?

Not on this page. The messages are tagged by category in our list, but the button draws from all 658 at once. Press again until you get the mood you need.

Are the messages original or quotes?

Both. The motivational, success and life categories are mostly quotes with the author's name included. The good morning, good night, love, friendship and family lines are unattributed texts written to be sent as-is.

How many messages can I generate?

As many as you like, one per press. There is no daily limit and nothing to sign up for.

Does it generate messages from a prompt?

No. It picks from a fixed list; it does not write a new message about a topic you type. For text written to a prompt, see the AI tools in the writing category.
