What this site is

RandomGenerate.io is a collection of small, single-purpose tools that make a random pick for you: a name, a number, a dinner, a movie, a phone number that looks real for a test form, a truth-or-dare question. There are 612 of them at the moment, grouped into 18 categories so you can find the one you need without scrolling through everything.

The site started in 2023 as a handful of pickers built to settle arguments about what to watch and what to eat. Developers started using the phone-number and address generators to fill test forms, teachers used the word and number tools in class, and writers used the name and character generators to get unstuck. We kept adding tools where people asked for them.

How the generators work

Every tool runs in your browser. Most pick from a curated list we maintain in the codebase (movie titles with posters and years, NBA rosters with photos, dog breeds, country numbering plans). A few of the writing tools call a language model to produce text from your prompt. Nothing you type is stored, and no account is required for anything.

Where a tool generates fake data, it follows the real format for that country or network: a UK mobile number starts with 07 and has eleven digits, a Visa test number starts with 4 and passes a Luhn check, a Texas ZIP code falls in the 75000–79999 range. That is what makes the output useful for testing. It is also why we say clearly on every such page that the data is synthetic and not connected to any real person or account.

Where the data comes from

Sports rosters and league lists are compiled from public league data and refreshed each season. Movie and TV data comes from public catalogue APIs. Name lists are assembled from public naming references and community contributions. Country phone and address formats follow the published numbering plans and postal standards of each country. When we are not confident in a dataset we say so on the page.

How we decide what to build and what to remove

We build the tools people ask for and remove the ones that stop being useful. In 2026 we retired a number of near-duplicate pages and folded them into stronger tools with more options, so if an old link brings you to a different page than you expected, that is why.
