Random Baseball Player Generator

Get one random MLB player from a list of 50 famous names, with a photo, nationality, birthplace, birth date and net worth.

Press Generate Baseball Player and the Random Baseball Player Generator shows one MLB player on a card: photo, name, profession, nationality, place and date of birth, and estimated net worth. The pool is 50 of the best-known players of the last three decades, from Cal Ripken Jr. and Greg Maddux to Bryce Harper. There are no filters; every press is a fresh draw from the same 50. It's a quick pick for "name a player" games, quiz rounds and settling whose jersey you wear tonight, not a full roster database.

Who is in the pool

The list is drawn from the site's celebrity dataset, which is why every entry has a net-worth figure and a birthplace rather than batting stats. It leans heavily toward stars of the 1990s to 2010s, and most are now retired:

GroupPlayers in the list
Hall of Fame hittersDerek Jeter, Ken Griffey Jr., Chipper Jones, Jim Thome, Mike Piazza, Cal Ripken Jr., Jeff Bagwell, Iván Rodríguez, Todd Helton, Adrián Beltré, Carlos Beltrán, Joe Mauer
Hall of Fame pitchersGreg Maddux, Tom Glavine, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martínez, Mariano Rivera, Mike Mussina, Roy Halladay, CC Sabathia
Other pitchersJustin Verlander, Zack Greinke, Félix Hernández, Stephen Strasburg, Johan Santana, David Price, Andy Pettitte
Big-name sluggersBarry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez, Albert Pujols, Miguel Cabrera, Manny Ramirez, Sammy Sosa, Gary Sheffield, Prince Fielder, Ryan Howard, Mark Teixeira, Carlos Delgado
2000s–2010s regularsIchiro Suzuki, Joey Votto, Robinson Canó, Adrián González, Bryce Harper, David Wright, Jayson Werth, José Reyes, Matt Kemp, Bobby Abreu, Vernon Wells, Carl Crawford

So, to be direct about what the search phrases ask for: this is closer to a random all-time-great generator than a current-roster one. Fifteen of the 50 are pitchers, but there is no pitcher-only mode, and today's young stars (Ohtani, Soto, Witt Jr., Skenes) are not in the list.

What the card shows

Each player card carries a photo, the name, a profession line (usually "Baseball player", sometimes with "Actor" or "Athlete" added), nationality, birthplace, date of birth and a rounded net-worth estimate. Height is in the data for some players but blank for others. Anything missing shows as "NA" rather than a guess.

Ways to use it

  • Name-a-player games. Draw a player, then everyone names his teams, his position or the year he retired.
  • Trivia rounds. Cover the name and read the birthplace and birth date; "Washington Heights, 1975" is A-Rod.
  • Deciding a jersey, a card to pull, or a highlight reel to watch when you can't choose between eras.
  • Warmup for a fantasy draft in a legends league, where the 50 names here are roughly the first-round board.

For the same kind of pick in other sports, the Random NBA Player Generator has a much larger roster with position and height data, and the Random Soccer Player Generator and Random Golfer Generator cover their sports. Frequently asked questions

How many baseball players are in the generator?

50, all well-known MLB players from roughly 1990 to the present, most of them retired. One is drawn per press with no filters.

Does it include current MLB players?

A few of the 50 were still active recently, such as Bryce Harper and Justin Verlander, but the list is mostly retired stars. It is not a live current-roster generator.

Can I generate a random pitcher only?

No. There is no position filter. Fifteen of the 50 are pitchers (Maddux, Glavine, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martínez, Mariano Rivera, Verlander, Greinke and others), so roughly one press in three lands on one.

What information does each result include?

Photo, name, profession, nationality, place of birth, date of birth and an estimated net worth. Career statistics are not included.
