Random Disney Character Generator
Press the button and get one random Disney character with a picture, drawn from 78 princesses, heroes, villains and classic characters. The Random Disney Character Generator shows one Disney character per click, with a picture and the name on a card. The pool is 78 characters from Disney animation and Pixar: the princesses and heroines, the major villains, and a few of the classic and TV characters. Press again and you get a different one; the tool won't repeat the character you just saw. There are no settings, which makes it quick for a game round or a "who do I draw" decision.
Who's in the pool
- Princesses and heroines (24): Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel, Merida, Moana, Raya, Asha, Elsa, Anna, Elena, Mirabel, Tinker Bell, Esmeralda, Jane Porter, Alice, Megara and Kida.
- Villains (46): the famous ones (Maleficent, Ursula, Scar, Jafar, Cruella De Vil, Gaston, Hades, Captain Hook, the Evil Queen, Mother Gothel, Doctor Facilier, Yzma, Claude Frollo, Shan Yu, Prince Hans) and the deeper cuts (Chernabog from Fantasia, the Horned King, Madam Mim, Ratigan, Bill Sykes, Madame Medusa, Percival C. - Classic and TV characters (8): Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Darkwing Duck, Stitch, Roger Rabbit, Perry the Platypus, Star Butterfly and Bill Cipher.
Pictures are the same ones used on our princess and villain pages, so each card shows the character in their film's art style. The list covers Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar; it does not include Marvel, Star Wars or live-action-only characters.
Spread across the decades
Because villains and princesses both go back to 1937, the pool is spread across Disney's whole history. A few picks with their film and year, to give a sense of the range:
| Character | Film | Year |
|---|---|---|
| The Evil Queen | Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs | 1937 |
| Chernabog | Fantasia | 1940 |
| Captain Hook | Peter Pan | 1953 |
| Madam Mim | The Sword in the Stone | 1963 |
| Ariel | The Little Mermaid | 1989 |
| Scar | The Lion King | 1994 |
| Stitch | Lilo & Stitch | 2002 |
| Rapunzel | Tangled | 2010 |
| Mirabel | Encanto | 2021 |
| Asha | Wish | 2023 |
Ways to use a random pick
- Drawing prompts. Generate, draw, repeat. Villains are the better test of an art style; princesses are the better test of expressions.
- Trivia and charades. One person generates and acts, sings or describes the character; the room guesses the name and the film.
- Costume and Halloween decisions for families who can't agree, or a group who wants matched characters from the same film.
- Disney-themed party games. Assign every guest a character at the door; the generator does the assignments without favoritism.
- Classroom warmups. Show a card and ask for the film, the year, or what the character wants.
If you want a narrower pool, the site has a Disney princess picker and a Disney villain picker that use the same pictures. For other franchises, try the Random Movie Character Generator, the Random Nickelodeon Character Generator, the Random DC Character Generator or the Random Video Game Character Generator. All of them are listed under all people & character generators.
Frequently asked questions
- Does the random Disney character generator show pictures?
Yes. Every one of the 78 characters has an image, shown on the card with the name.
- Does it generate made-up Disney character names?
No. It picks real characters from Disney and Pixar films and shows. If you want an invented name in a Disney style, this isn't the tool for that.
- Can I get more than one character at a time?
No, one per click. It will never show the same character twice in a row, so pressing the button repeatedly gives you a sequence of different picks.
- Are Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars characters included?
Pixar villains like Sid, Lotso, Syndrome and Emperor Zurg are included. Marvel and Star Wars characters are not.
