Snapchat Username Generator

The Snapchat Username Generator takes your real name (or a nickname), a style you pick, and optionally your favorite number, and returns up to 20 username ideas built around that input. Each result has a copy button and a link that opens snapchat.com/add/ for that exact name, so you can see straight away whether someone already has it. It's for anyone setting up a new Snapchat account, or making a second one, who doesn't want to spend twenty minutes typing variations that are already taken.

The three steps

1. Who are you – type a name. It can be your first name, a nickname or a word you like; the generator uses it as the base for every suggestion. You can't move on until this box has something in it.
2. Username vibe – pick one of 12 styles: all, professional, nature-inspired, artistic, fantasy, catchy, sporty, cute, tech-inspired, sci-fi, funny or gamer. "All" mixes them. Press Generate here if you don't need the extras.
3. Optional settings (the gear tab) – add a favorite number to weave into the names, and drag the length slider to set a minimum and maximum character count. The slider runs from 1 to 32, but Snapchat only accepts 3 to 15 characters, so keep the upper handle at 15 or below if you want every result to be usable.

The suggestions are generated on our server from your inputs rather than picked from a fixed list, so two people entering the same name will still get different sets. Run it again if the first batch doesn't land.

What you get back

Up to 20 usernames appear as cards. Each card has the name, a copy-to-clipboard button, and a "check" link that goes to Snapchat's add-friend page for that username. If the page shows a profile, the name is taken; if Snapchat says the user wasn't found, it's most likely free. The generator itself doesn't query Snapchat, so that link is how you confirm availability.

Snapchat's username rules

Before you fall in love with a suggestion, it has to fit Snapchat's constraints:

• 3 to 15 characters.
• Letters, numbers, and at most one of these: hyphen (-), underscore (_) or period (.). Spaces aren't allowed.
• It has to start with a letter and can't end with a special character.
• Usernames are all lowercase on Snapchat. If a suggestion has capitals, Snapchat will just lowercase it.
• You can change your username once a year, and your old one isn't released for others to use. Your display name, on the other hand, can be changed as often as you like from the profile screen.

The practical upshot: the favorite-number option and the shorter end of the length slider are your best friends here, because short name-plus-number combinations are what most people search for and what Snapchat accepts without complaint.

Picking a name that works on Snapchat specifically

Snapchat is different from Twitter or Twitch in that your username is mostly seen by people who already know you; they add you by typing it in or scanning your Snapcode. That changes what "good" means:

• Easy to say out loud. Friends will tell each other your username in person. "maya.k22" travels better than "xX_maYa_Xx". Avoid letter-for-number swaps unless the number is meaningful to you.
• Keep it close to your real name if the account is personal, so people searching for you find you. The "professional" and "catchy" vibes lean this way.
• Go abstract if you want privacy. The "fantasy", "sci-fi" and "nature-inspired" styles produce names that don't reveal much, which suits a second account.
• Don't include your birth year as the number. It's a small privacy leak. Use a jersey number, a lucky number or a house number instead.
