Cash App Fee Calculator

Enter an amount, choose the funding source and transfer type, and see the estimated Cash App fee and how much arrives.

Type in a dollar amount, choose where the money comes from (bank account, debit card, credit card or your Cash App balance) and what kind of transfer it is, then press Generate. The Cash App Fee Calculator shows three numbers: the amount you entered, the estimated fee, and what's left after the fee. It's a quick way to answer questions like "how much will Cash App take from $1,000 on an instant transfer" without opening the app and starting a payment.

How the fee is worked out

The calculator applies a flat percentage based on the two dropdowns. These are the rules built into it:

Source of fundsTransfer typeFee applied
Bank account, debit card or Cash App balanceNormal transfer0%
Bank account, debit card or Cash App balanceSending money0%
Bank account, debit card or Cash App balanceInstant transfer1.5%
Credit cardNormal transfer0%
Credit cardSending money3%
Credit cardInstant transfer1.5%

So a $500 instant transfer is estimated at $7.50 in fees with $492.50 arriving, a $1,000 instant transfer at $15 with $985 arriving, and a $500 payment funded by a credit card at $15 with $485 arriving. A standard transfer of any size shows a $0 fee. Make sure you actually select both dropdowns before pressing Generate; the fee only applies once a source and a transfer type have been chosen.

What Cash App's real fee schedule looks like

The calculator is a simplified model, and it helps to know where it simplifies. At the time of writing, Cash App's published fees in the US are:

  • Standard deposit to a bank (1–3 business days): free.
  • Instant deposit to a debit card: a percentage of the amount, published as a range from 0.5% to 1.75%, with a minimum fee of $0.25. The exact rate is shown in the app before you confirm. This tool uses 1.5% as a middle-of-the-range estimate, so your real fee could be a little lower or higher.
  • Sending money from a linked credit card: 3%. Sending from a bank account, debit card or your Cash App balance is free.
  • ATM withdrawals with the Cash Card: a per-withdrawal fee that is waived if you receive qualifying direct deposits. This calculator does not cover ATM fees.
  • Bitcoin and stock trades: separate fees that depend on the trade. Also not covered here.

Cash App changes its rates from time to time, so treat the number here as a planning estimate and confirm the exact fee on the confirmation screen in the app.

When a quick estimate is useful

  • Deciding between instant and standard. If $15 on a $1,000 cash-out feels steep, the standard deposit is free and usually lands within a couple of business days.
  • Sending an exact amount. If a friend needs to receive $500 and you're paying from a credit card, you can see that you'd need to send closer to $515 to cover the 3%.
  • Splitting bills or rent. Work out whether the fee makes it worth switching to a debit card or bank funding source, which costs nothing to send from.
  • Budgeting for a side business. If you cash out daily with instant deposits, multiply a typical day's amount by 1.5% to see what you're spending on speed each month.

Building or testing a payments feature?

This page sits alongside our test-data tools because developers often land here while mocking up a payment flow. If you need placeholder financial details for a sandbox, the Bank Account Number Generator and Bank Routing Number Generator produce correctly formatted (but fictional) numbers, and the Debit Card Generator and Random Credit Card Generator make Luhn-valid test card numbers. You'll find the rest under all developer and test data tools.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the Cash App instant fee for $500?

Using the 1.5% rate in this calculator, an instant transfer of $500 costs $7.50, so $492.50 reaches your bank. Cash App's actual instant deposit rate ranges from 0.5% to 1.75% with a $0.25 minimum, so the real fee could be between $2.50 and $8.75. The app shows the exact figure before you confirm.

How much will Cash App take from $1,000?

It depends on the transfer. A standard deposit is free. An instant transfer is estimated at $15 (1.5%). Sending $1,000 to another person from a linked credit card costs $30 (3%). Sending from a debit card, bank account or your Cash App balance is free.

Is there a fee for a normal (standard) transfer?

No. Standard deposits from your Cash App balance to a linked bank account are free and typically take one to three business days.

Does the calculator handle fees for other countries, like the UK?

No. The percentages here reflect Cash App's US fee structure. Cash App's UK service was discontinued, and fees in any other region would be different.

Why does the calculator show a $0 fee?

A $0 fee is correct for standard transfers and for sending money from a bank account, debit card or Cash App balance. If you expected a fee, check that you selected both the source of funds and the transfer type before pressing Generate.
