Random Girl Name Generator
Pick a country and get 1 to 15 random female first-and-last names with a copy button on each card. The Random Girl Name Generator produces between 1 and 15 female full names at a time, first name and surname together, from whichever of 36 countries you pick. The default is the United States, which gives names like Emily Johnson or Maria Schmidt; switch the country to Japan, Turkey, Brazil or Finland and both halves of the name change to fit. Each result sits on its own card with a copy button. It's a quick way to fill a character list, a spreadsheet of test users or a baby-name shortlist without typing names by hand.
What you can set
- Number of names: 1 to 15 per click. Enter 0 or anything above 15 and the form shows an error instead of generating.
- Country: one of 36 options, sorted alphabetically. Arabic (as a language rather than a country), Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Croatia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Nepal, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States and Vietnam.
Names are built from the Faker library's locale data, which pairs a country's female given names with its surnames. Every so often a result carries a courtesy title or suffix the way a real record might (Mrs. or Ms. in front, or a professional suffix after), which is part of the library's default full-name format rather than something you can switch on or off.
What to expect by country
| Country | Typical result | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Ireland, South Africa | Charlotte Walsh, Olivia Reynolds | English-language sets with the largest name pools; the UK and Irish lists lean toward British surnames. |
| Germany, Austria, Switzerland | Katharina Bauer, Lena Huber | Swiss names come from the French-Swiss set. |
| Spain, Mexico | Lucía Hernández, Valentina García | Single surname; the tool doesn't generate the double surnames common in Spanish-speaking countries. |
| Brazil, Portugal | Ana Clara Silva, Beatriz Santos | Portuguese-language sets. |
| Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Croatia, Romania | Anastasia Ivanova, Zofia Nowak | Slavic sets include feminine surname endings where the language uses them. |
| Japan, China, Taiwan | Yui Tanaka, Li Mei | Rendered in the Latin alphabet, given name first, Western order. |
| India, Indonesia, Nepal, Vietnam, Turkey, Israel, Georgia, Arabic | Priya Sharma, Ayşe Yılmaz | Some of these locales have a smaller female name list, so repeats show up sooner. |
One honest caveat: for a handful of locales the underlying library doesn't separate female from male given names, so a "girl" name from those countries is drawn from a mixed list and can occasionally be a male or unisex name. The English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Scandinavian, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian and Turkish sets are properly split.
Ways people use it
- Naming characters. Generate 15 from the country your story is set in and pick the two that sound like they belong to the people you've imagined. If the character needs a partner, the Couple Names Generator pairs two names together.
- Baby-name browsing. The country filter surfaces names you wouldn't find on a top-100 list; the Finnish and Georgian sets are especially unfamiliar to English speakers.
- Test data. Fifteen female names per click, with realistic surnames for the locale, is what a users table for a regional app needs. The Random Last Name Generator covers the surname column on its own.
- Roleplay and games. NPC lists, guild rosters and Sims households.
- Placeholder names in mockups. Safer than reusing a colleague's name in a design comp.

Frequently asked questions
- Does it generate first names only or full names?
Full names: a female given name followed by a surname from the same country. There's no first-name-only mode on this page.
- How many girl names can I generate at once?
Between 1 and 15 per click. Entering a number outside that range shows an error message instead of results.
- Which countries are available?
36 options covering North and South America, most of Europe, and parts of Asia, the Middle East and Africa, from Australia to Vietnam. The default is the United States.
- Why did a name come with Mrs. or a suffix like DDS?
The name library occasionally formats a full name with a courtesy title or professional suffix, the way names appear in real directories. It happens on a small share of results and can't be disabled; just delete the title if you don't want it.
- Are these real people?
No. Given names and surnames are combined at random from lists of common names, so a match with a real person is coincidence, like picking two common words from a dictionary.
