Random Illinois Address

Get 1 to 15 random Illinois street addresses from 15 cities, each with a genuine IL ZIP code for that city, ready to copy.

Enter how many addresses you want (1 to 15), press Generate Address, and you get a card for each one in the form 3585 Pine St., Springfield, IL 62711. The Random Illinois Address tool draws from a list of 1,000 entries spread over 15 Illinois cities, and unlike some state lists on this site, the ZIP on each card genuinely belongs to the city named. It's meant for test data, form filling and placeholder content, not for mailing anything.

Options and limits

The only setting is the count, from 1 to 15 addresses per click. There's no city filter and no ZIP filter. Each click reshuffles the full list and returns the first N, so you can keep pressing the button until the cities you need come up. Every card has a copy icon in the corner that puts the whole line on your clipboard.

Which cities are in the list

The 1,000 addresses cover these 15 places, with real ZIP prefixes for each:

CityZIP prefixes in the listRegion
Chicago606xx (60601–60661)Cook County
Evanston, Des Plaines, Waukegan600xx–602xxNorth and northwest suburbs
Elgin60120–60124Fox River, northwest
Aurora, Naperville605xxWestern suburbs
Joliet604xxSouthwest of Chicago
Rockford611xxNorthern Illinois
Peoria616xxCentral Illinois
Bloomington, Champaign617xx, 618xxCentral Illinois
Springfield627xxState capital
Decatur, Quincy625xx, 623xxCentral and western Illinois

Roughly two thirds of the entries are in the Chicago metro area (ZIPs 600–606), which mirrors where most Illinois residents actually live. Street names are short and generic, such as Meadow St., Green St., Oak St. and 3rd St., with a one- to four-digit house number that isn't checked against a real building.

What the results include

Each card is a single line with a street number, street name, city, the abbreviation IL and a five-digit ZIP. There's no recipient name, unit number, county or phone. If you need addresses spread across all 50 states rather than one, use the Random US Address Generator.

Where a random Illinois address is useful

  • Testing address validation. Because city and ZIP agree, these lines pass the kind of check that flags a Chicago address with a Springfield ZIP.
  • Filling out demo accounts. A shipping form in a staging environment needs something more convincing than "123 Test St", and 15 cards cover a whole batch of accounts.
  • Sales tax and shipping-zone tests. Illinois has a state rate plus local add-ons that differ between Chicago (Cook County) and downstate cities like Quincy. Mixing addresses from both lets you check the calculation changes.
  • Story settings. If a character lives in Rockford or Evanston, you can pull a street and number instead of inventing one.

How Illinois ZIP codes are laid out

All Illinois ZIP codes begin with 60, 61 or 62. The first three digits mark a sectional center: 600–603 are the northern and western Chicago suburbs, 604 and 605 the southern and western collar counties, and 606 is the City of Chicago itself. 610–619 cover the northern and central parts of the state (Rockford 611, Peoria 616, Bloomington 617, Champaign 618), and 620–629 cover the south and west, including Decatur (625), Quincy (623) and Springfield (627). The written format matches USPS convention: street line, then city, then IL and the ZIP, as in 494 Park St., Springfield, IL 62711.

Other state and city address tools

For other parts of the country, try the Random New York Address Generator, the Random Address in Colorado tool, or the Random Address in Delaware tool, which all work the same way. There's a Random Address in Los Angeles tool if you need a single city. You can see all address & postal code generators for the complete list of states and countries.

Frequently asked questions

Are the generated Illinois addresses real?

The cities and ZIP codes are real and correctly paired, but the house number and street are generated, so the exact line won't correspond to an actual building. They're safe for testing precisely because they don't point at a real home.

Can I generate an address in Chicago specifically?

There's no city filter, but Chicago and its suburbs make up about two thirds of the list, so generating 15 at a time will almost always include several Chicago (606xx) addresses.

How many addresses can I get at once?

Between 1 and 15 per click, with no limit on how many times you click.

Does the Illinois address generator include a name or phone number?

No, each card is just the street address line with city, IL and ZIP. If you need a person attached, pair it with a name generator.
