Random Perk Generator

The Random Perk Generator draws between one and ten perks from the full Dead by Daylight perk list, 243 in total, and shows each as a card with its icon, its name and the complete perk text including the tier values (the 3/4/5 seconds or 40/60/80 percent numbers). Survivor and killer perks are in the same pool, and there is no role filter, so a draw of four can come back as two of each. Players use it as a perk roulette for random-build challenges, streams and "no meta" nights with friends.

How the draw works

Set the number from 1 to 10 and press Generate Perk. The list is shuffled and the first N perks are shown, so you won't get the same perk twice in one draw. The pool is every perk we have catalogued: general perks such as Spine Chill and Whispers, teachable perks from every survivor and killer, Boon and Hex perks, and Scourge Hook perks. Because roles are mixed, the usual way to get a legal build is to draw 8 to 10 and take the first four that match the side you're playing. If you'd rather draw exactly four and play whatever comes, you'll sometimes get an unplayable mix, which is part of the fun for some groups and a re-roll for others.

What each card shows

The card carries the perk icon on a colored background, the perk name and the description as it reads in the game's perk text, with the tier-one, tier-two and tier-three values listed in order. Where a perk has a flavor quote from its character ("I have true sight," from Feng Min on Alert), the quote is included. The text is there so you can read what a perk does without alt-tabbing to the wiki mid-lobby; it isn't a tier list and the tool doesn't rank perks.

Ways to play with it

• Random build challenge. Draw until you have four perks for your role, equip exactly those, and play the match. Popular on stream because chat can see the draw.
• Perk of the day. Draw one and build the rest of your loadout around it. This is how a lot of players finally learn what Appraisal or Zanshin Tactics actually does.
• Swap-a-perk. Keep your normal build but replace one slot with a random draw every match.
• Custom-game rules. In a private match, each player draws their own perks and the group agrees on one re-roll each. Removes the "you always run the same four" complaint.

About the perk list

The 243 perks cover the base game and the licensed and original chapters up to the point the list was compiled, with the text taken from the in-game descriptions. Dead by Daylight adds three perks with most new chapters and periodically rebalances old ones, so a recently released perk may be missing and a number in the description may lag a patch or two behind the live game. Perk mechanics that depend on prestige unlocks or the Shrine of Secrets aren't modeled here: the generator assumes you own every perk, so a draw may hand you a teachable you haven't unlocked yet. Treat that as a re-roll.
