The Star Wars Name Generator draws 1 to 10 names from a list of 75 first names and single-word names taken from the films and shows, split into Male, Female and Neutral lists of 25 each. Pick a count, choose a category or leave it on Random, and press Generate Star Wars Name. Each result is a single name such as "Ahsoka", "Lando", "Padmé" or "Cassian", shown on its own card. It is a quick way to name a character for a tabletop game, a fan fiction, a Star Wars: Outlaws or Galaxy of Heroes profile, or a droid that needs a callsign.
What you can set
- Number of names, from 1 to 10. The default is 3. A batch never contains the same name twice because the tool shuffles the list and takes the first N.
- Category. Random draws from all 75. Male, Female and Neutral each restrict the draw to their 25-name list, so asking for 10 Female names returns 10 of those 25.
Every result is a first name or a standalone word; there are no surnames, titles or generated combinations. If you need a full name, draw one from the Male or Female list and one from the Neutral list, which is mostly surnames, and put them together: "Norra Dameron" or "Owen Enfys" both sound like they belong on a Rebel roster.
What is in the three lists
- Male (25). Anakin, Boba Fett, Ben, Cody, Daine, Darth, Finn, Firmus, Hunter, George, Han, Harrison, Jango, Jacen, Kylo, Lando, Luke, Max, Mos, Nien, Owen, Qui, Walker, Wicket and Wilhuff.
- Female (25). Aayla, Ahsoka, Annie, Allana, Amidala, Amilyn, Asajj, Bebe, Bo, Breha, Carrie, Daisy, Fennec, Hera, Jaina, Karina, Leia, Lyra, Norra, Oola, Padmé, Qi'ra, Rose, Sabine and Sash Ketter.
- Neutral (25). Mostly surnames and one-word names that work for any character or a ship: Baze, Bail, Carnor, Cassian, Dameron, Eisley, Enfys, Ewan, Falcon, Ford, Grogu, Hux, Jyn, Koska, Mace, Maz, Migs, Morgan, Orson, Poe, Qin, Rebel, Rey, Solo and Toro.
A few entries are Easter eggs rather than in-universe names: George, Harrison, Carrie, Daisy and Ewan are the actors and director, Mos and Eisley come from the spaceport, and Darth is a title. The list mixes the original trilogy, prequels, sequels, Rogue One, Solo, The Clone Wars, Rebels, The Mandalorian and the Legends novels (Jacen, Jaina, Allana), so results lean canon but not exclusively.
Ways people use it
- Naming an RPG character. For Star Wars: Edge of the Empire or a homebrew campaign, draw three names and take the one that fits the species and background.
- Squad and crew rosters. Generate ten Neutral names for a pilot roster or a Mandalorian covert; they read like callsigns.
- Fan fiction side characters. The background bartender or the stormtrooper who speaks once needs a name that does not distract; a random draw settles it in a second.
- Pets, droids and Wi-Fi networks. "Grogu" and "Wicket" have named a lot of dogs. "Rebel" and "Falcon" name routers.
- Party games. Everyone gets a random Star Wars name for the evening and has to answer to it.
How Star Wars names are built
If the list gives you a start but you want to invent your own, the franchise's naming habits are consistent enough to copy. Core-world humans tend to have short, plain first names (Han, Luke, Ben, Owen, Rose) with surnames that are ordinary English words or near-words (Solo, Skywalker, Organa, Antilles). Naboo and Alderaan names run longer and softer, with more vowels (Padmé, Amidala, Breha, Bail). Jedi and Sith names often double a consonant or use an apostrophe (Qui-Gon, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Asajj, Qi'ra), and Sith titles follow "Darth" plus a two-syllable word with a hard edge (Vader, Maul, Sidious, Tyranus). Mandalorian names favor hard consonants and clipped syllables (Jango, Fennec, Koska, Bo-Katan). Clone troopers go by numbers turned into nicknames (Cody from CC-2224, Rex, Fives, Hunter). Droids are letter-number strings (R2-D2, BB-8, L3-37, K-2SO) and an easy way to name one is a random letter pair, a hyphen and a random one- or two-digit number.

Frequently asked questions
- Does the Star Wars name generator make full names or just first names?
Single names only, 75 in total: 25 male, 25 female and 25 neutral entries. To build a full name, take one from the Male or Female list and add one from the Neutral list, which is mostly surnames.
- Are the names canon?
Most are canon film and show characters (Ahsoka, Cassian, Fennec, Grogu). A few come from the Legends novels (Jacen, Jaina, Allana) and a few are nods to the cast and crew (George, Harrison, Carrie, Daisy, Ewan).
- How many names can I generate at once?
From 1 to 10 per press, with no repeats inside a batch. With a category selected, the pool is 25 names, so a batch of 10 covers almost half of it.
- Can it generate Sith names or droid designations?
Not as separate options. 'Darth' and 'Kylo' are in the Male list, but there is no Sith title builder or droid naming mode. The section above explains the patterns if you want to make your own.
