Warrior Cats Tribe Name Generator

The Warrior Cats Tribe Name Generator gives you one to ten names for a group of cats per click, picked from a list of 200 two-part names built the way Erin Hunter's Clans are: ThunderPride, RiverFolk, MistWanderers, FrostGuardians, RavenWing, StormBringers. It is for fans writing fan fiction, running a Warriors roleplay on Discord or a forum, or setting up an original Clan or Tribe that needs a name nobody else is already using.

To be precise about what you get: these are names for a group, not for individual cats. If you came here for a Tribe of Rushing Water cat name (the “Brook Where Small Fish Swim” style), see the section below on how those names are built.

How it works

Enter a number from 1 to 10 and press Generate. Each name appears on its own card in the same CamelCase form as the books' Clan names. The list is shuffled on every press, so you can keep going until something suits the territory you have in mind. There are no filters; a batch might mix forest names, sea names and sky names.

What kinds of names are in the list

The 200 names follow the Clan naming pattern, a natural-world word plus a group or place word, and they cluster by the kind of territory a group might hold:

• Classic Clan-style – ThunderPride, ShadowPack, RiverFolk, WindTribe, SkyHerd, DarkForestDwellers, MoonSeekers, SunChasers.
• Forest and plant – BrambleThicket, WillowBrook, OakStand, AspenGlade, BirchHollow, FernHideaway, ThornBarrier, HeatherBloom.
• Animal-based – WolfPack, FoxHollow, BadgerSett, OtterStream, HawkEye, RavenWing, OwlHoot, ViperNest.
• Water and shore – TideRunners, SalmonRun, TroutStream, SealShore, TidepoolHaven, LakeMirror, MarshMud.
• Sky, weather and seasons – CloudDancers, DawnLight, TwilightMist, StarlightGaze, AuroraGleam, LightningStrike, BlizzardFury, WinterFrost.

A stretch of the list drifts into space and science words (NebulaMist, PulsarPulse, SaturnRing, HelioSphere) that do not fit a Warriors setting well; treat those as filler and press again. The forest, water and weather names are the ones that read as if they belong next to ThunderClan and RiverClan.

How Tribe of Rushing Water names actually work

In the books, the Tribe that lives in the mountains does not use Clan-style names at all. Each cat is named after the first thing its mother saw at birth, which produces a long descriptive phrase: Brook Where Small Fish Swim, Stormfur's mate; Crag Where Eagles Nest; Talon of Swooping Eagle; Sheer Path Beside Waterfall. Day to day, the Tribe shortens them to the first word, so Brook, Crag, Talon and Sheer. The only exception is the leader and healer, always called Stoneteller (Teller of the Pointed Stones).

To make one yourself, follow that formula: pick a mountain feature or animal (Crag, Brook, Snow, Wing, Pebble, Moss), add a phrase describing what it is doing or where it is (Where Water Falls, That Shines at Night, Beside Frozen Pool), then use the first word as the everyday name. Tribe cats are also grouped by role, cave-guards and prey-hunters, rather than into warriors and apprentices, which is worth getting right in a roleplay.

Names for other groups

If your roleplay needs rival factions with a different feel, the Gang Name Generator produces rougher street-style names, and the Mercenary Company Name Generator gives you names for a band of hired fighters. Gaming groups can use the Destiny Clan Name Generator. Every naming tool on the site is listed under all name generators.
