Fantasy Baseball Team Names Generator
Press the button and get up to ten fantasy baseball team names drawn from a list of 423 player puns, movie riffs and trash-talk names. The Fantasy Baseball Team Names Generator hands you one to ten team names per click, pulled at random from a list of 423 names we collected from real fantasy leagues. Almost all of them are puns on MLB players: Acuna Matata, Ring My Bellinger, Finding Nimmo, Cease & Desist, Pujols Grand Theft Votto. If your draft is tonight and the league app is still showing “Team 7”, this is the fastest way to fix that.
How it works
There is one setting: how many names you want, from 1 to 10. Type a number, press Generate, and each name appears on its own card. Press again for a new batch; the list is reshuffled every time, so you can keep going until something fits your roster or your sense of humor. Names are plain text, so copy the one you like straight into ESPN, Yahoo, Sleeper or CBS.
What kind of names are in the list
The 423 entries fall into a few recognizable groups:
- Player-name puns – the bulk of the list. Game Of Throws, Sharkshank Redemption, Ken Fried Chicken, Better Call Paul, Lawn Mauer, Nosetradamus, Always Be A Dickey.
- Movie and TV riffs – Pet Shoppach Boys, The Haren D Tortoise, De Young & Restless, Born Supremecy.
- Trash talk – We Beat Your Favorite Team, No Fantasy Name Allowed, Performance Enhancing Bats, 99 Problems, Pitch Ain't One.
- Plain old team names – Southern Hammers, Old Schoolers, Macho Men, Big Betters.
Because the puns are built on player names, some of them date the list. You will see nods to Joe Mauer, Adam LaRoche, R.A. Dickey and Dan Haren next to Ronald Acuna Jr., Cody Bellinger and Dylan Cease. Treat older references as a feature if your league has veterans who will get the joke, and skip them if it doesn't.
Where the names get used
- Draft night. Most leagues lock names once the season starts, and the commissioner is tired of chasing the last two owners. Generate ten, pick one, done.
- Renaming mid-season. Some leagues let you rename after a trade or a losing streak. A player pun on the guy you just acquired is the traditional move.
- League names. Several searches that reach this page are for fantasy baseball league names rather than team names. Many entries work for either: Game Of Throws, Performance Enhancing Bats and Old Schoolers all read fine as a league title.
- Softball and rec teams. The non-pun names (Southern Hammers, Ballpark-style names) work for a beer league or a company softball team, where a fantasy-specific joke would fall flat.
Making a pun name your own
The best fantasy names are built on a player you actually roster, so the generator is often a starting point rather than a final answer. The pattern is simple: take a movie, song, or phrase, find a syllable that sounds like your player's surname, and swap it in. Bellinger gives you Ring My Bellinger; Votto gives you Grand Theft Votto; Nimmo gives you Finding Nimmo. Scan your roster for names with a strong sound (Ohtani, Judge, Soto, Skenes, Witt) and try them against song titles first, since those tend to be short.
If you want the name to survive more than one season, avoid puns on players likely to be traded or dropped and lean on the trash-talk or generic entries instead.

Frequently asked questions
- How many fantasy baseball team names can I generate at once?
Between 1 and 10 per click. Press Generate again to reshuffle the full list of 423 names and get a fresh batch.
- Are the names puns on current players?
Mostly. The list mixes current stars (Acuna, Bellinger, Cease, Nimmo) with players from the 2000s and 2010s such as Mauer, LaRoche and Dickey, so check that your league will recognize the reference.
- Can I use these as fantasy baseball league names?
Yes. There is no separate league-name mode, but many entries such as Game Of Throws or Performance Enhancing Bats work as a league title as well as a team name.
- Can I filter names by player or team?
No. The tool only picks at random from the list. If you want a pun on a specific player, generate a few examples to see the pattern and adapt one to your roster.
- Is the generator free?
Yes. There is no account, no limit on how many times you can press the button, and the names are free to use in any league.
