Random New York Address Generator

Enter a count (1 to 10) and get fictional New York addresses with a street, a real city or borough, NY and a matching ZIP code, each with a copy button.

The Random New York Address Generator picks one to ten addresses from a list of 121 that we wrote for the state, each in the standard US form: house number and street, then the city, the NY abbreviation and a five-digit ZIP code, for example 577 Division St. New York, NY 10011. The city and ZIP code in each line are real and belong together; the street and house number are made up, so the line does not point at an actual door. Every result sits on a card with a copy button. It is meant for developers seeding test data, designers filling mockups and writers who need a fake address in New York that reads right.

How it works

Set the count, press Generate Address, and the tool shuffles the list and shows the first few entries. Because it draws from a fixed list, a batch never repeats an address, but a later batch can show one you have seen before. There is no filter for borough or ZIP range. If you need addresses from one part of the state, generate ten, keep the ones that fit and run it again.

What is in the list

Most of the 121 addresses are in New York City: Brooklyn has the largest share, followed by Manhattan (written as "New York, NY"), the Bronx, Staten Island and Queens neighborhoods such as Astoria, Jamaica, Woodside, Fresh Meadows and Ridgewood. A smaller group covers Long Island towns like Hempstead and Westbury, the Hudson Valley (Yonkers, Newburgh, Poughkeepsie) and upstate cities including Buffalo and Webster near Rochester. Street names are a mix of real-sounding generic names (Division St., 10th Dr., Glen Eagles Ave.) with numbers we picked, so a search on a map may find the street but not the building.

Ways people use it

  • Checkout and shipping-form tests. New York ZIP codes start with 1, and NYC ones with 100 to 102 (Manhattan), 103 (Staten Island), 104 (Bronx), 112 (Brooklyn) and 110 to 116 (Queens and Long Island), which is handy when testing tax or delivery-zone logic.
  • Demo accounts. A customer list for a demo of a New York business looks credible with Brooklyn and Bronx addresses instead of the same Anytown placeholder on every row.
  • Fiction and screenplays. A character's apartment in Astoria or a shop on Staten Island can have a street address that will not send fans to a real resident's home.
  • Classroom exercises on US address format and ZIP codes, using a state most students already know something about.

How a New York address is written

The tool prints the address on one line for copying. On an envelope it is two lines under the name: the street line, then city, state and ZIP.

A few New York quirks worth knowing when you use the results:

  • Manhattan is "New York, NY." The other boroughs use their own name as the city: Brooklyn, Bronx, Staten Island. Queens is the exception; mail there uses the neighborhood name (Astoria, Flushing, Jamaica) rather than "Queens."
  • ZIP codes: 100xx to 102xx are Manhattan, 103xx Staten Island, 104xx the Bronx, 110xx to 116xx Queens and Long Island, 112xx Brooklyn. Everything from 120xx upward is upstate, with Buffalo at 142xx. ZIP+4 is optional and not included in the results.
  • Apartments: most New Yorkers live in apartments, and a real mailing address usually adds "Apt 4B" after the street. The generator does not add apartment numbers; append one if your test needs a second address line.

For the rest of the country there is a Random US Address Generator, plus state and city pages such as Los Angeles, New Jersey, Connecticut and Illinois. See all address & postal code generators for the full set.

Frequently asked questions

Are these real addresses in New York?

No. The city and ZIP code are real and match each other, but the street number and name are invented. Do not use a result for deliveries, account verification or anything that needs a genuine address.

Does it generate New York City addresses or New York State?

Both. About 70 percent of the list is in the five boroughs, and the rest is on Long Island, in the Hudson Valley and upstate. There is no option to limit results to one area.

How many addresses can I generate at once?

Between 1 and 10 per click, with no repeats inside a batch.

Can I use a fake New York address to sign up for a service?

We do not recommend it. Many services check addresses against postal data, and providing a false address usually breaks their terms. The tool is for testing, demos and creative work.
