Random SpongeBob Characters

Get 1 to 10 random SpongeBob SquarePants main characters, each shown with a picture, from a set of the ten core Bikini Bottom residents.

Enter a number from 1 to 10 and press the button to get that many SpongeBob SquarePants characters, each shown as a card with a picture and the character's full name. The pool is small and specific: it holds the ten core residents of Bikini Bottom, from SpongeBob himself to Gary the snail. It is a quick picker for the main cast, not an encyclopedia of every background fish who has ever walked past the Krusty Krab.

How it works

The only setting is the count. The default is 3. Each press shuffles the ten characters and returns the first few, so a single batch never repeats anyone. Ask for 10 and you get the whole cast in a random order, which is handy when you want to assign every main character to someone in a group. The picture on each card is a full-body render of the character; names are the full canonical ones used in the show, so Mr. Krabs appears as Eugene Harold Krabs and Sandy as Sandra Jennifer Olivia Cheeks.

What a ten-character picker is good for

  • Assigning characters for a group. Generate 10 and go down the list to hand out roles for a Halloween group costume, a class skit or a party game.
  • Drawing prompts. Pull one character and sketch them from the reference picture in a set time.
  • Quiz rounds. Generate three characters and ask the room to name each one's job, home or species from the table above.
  • Impression games. Whoever's turn it is presses the button and has to do the voice of the character that comes up.

For a wider cartoon pool, the Random Nickelodeon Character Generator covers characters across the network's shows. The Random Movie Character Generator and Random Video Game Character Generator work the same way for film and games, and the Random FNAF Character Generator is another single-franchise picker. Frequently asked questions

How many SpongeBob characters can it pick from?

Ten: SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Mr. Krabs, Plankton, Karen, Sandy, Mrs. Puff, Pearl and Gary. Set the count to 10 to see all of them in a random order.

Does it include minor characters?

No. Side characters such as Mermaid Man, Larry the Lobster or Bubble Bass are not in the list. Only the ten main residents are included.

Why are some names so long?

The tool uses each character's full name as given in the show, so Sandy appears as Sandra Jennifer Olivia Cheeks and Gary as Garold 'Gary' Wilson, Jr.

Can the same character appear twice in one result?

No. Each press shuffles the list and takes the first names from it, so a batch has no duplicates.
