What the generator draws from

The list mirrors the character index on the Super Mario Wiki rather than a hand-picked top 20, which is why it is so uneven in a good way. Rough breakdown of what is in the 488:

• Mainline cast. Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Bowser, Bowser Jr., Wario, Waluigi, Rosalina, Pauline, Toadette, Birdo, Kamek, Boom Boom, Captain Toad and Cappy.
• Enemies and bosses. Big Boo, Bigger Boo, Blue Goomba, Dino Piranha, Big Bungee Piranha, Meowser, and dozens more of that kind, which is what people searching for a random Mario enemy generator usually want.

Options and limits

The only control is the count. The tool shuffles the full list and takes the first N, so a batch of 10 never repeats a character, though a later batch can. There is no filter for heroes versus villains, no per-game filter, and no way to weight results toward the famous names; a random pick is as likely to be Pungent from Paper Mario as it is to be Luigi. If that is too obscure for what you are doing, run it a couple of times and keep the one you recognize.

Things people do with a random Mario pick
