Random UK Address Generator

Get 1 to 15 dummy UK addresses, each with a street line, town, a real British county and a UK-format postcode, ready to copy.

Type how many you need (1 to 15), press Generate Address, and each card shows one line in the form 332 Annie Passage, Garnettborough, South Glamorgan HD7 8CH, United Kingdom. The Random UK Address Generator makes dummy addresses that are shaped like British ones, with a real county and a properly formatted postcode, for anyone who needs a fake UK address to fill a field or seed a database. It does not return addresses of real houses, and that's the point.

What each address is made of

  • House number and street. A number of one to five digits followed by a generated street name. The suffixes come from a 225-item list, so you'll see Road, Lane and Close but also less British ones like Shoal, Oval and Plains.
  • Town. Produced by an English place-name pattern: names like Hayeshaven or Bernhardshire, with the occasional real town mixed in.
  • County. One of 70 real UK counties across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland: Shropshire, Nottinghamshire, Clwyd, Borders, County Antrim and so on.
  • Postcode. The standard AA9 9AA or AA99 9AA pattern with random letters, so it validates on shape but won't match a Royal Mail record.
  • Country. Always "United Kingdom".

There's no recipient name, flat number or phone. Each card has a copy icon that puts the whole line on your clipboard.

Options

The count is the only control, from 1 to 15 addresses per run. There's no filter by nation, county or city. Press the button again for a fresh batch.

What a dummy UK address is good for

  • Testing address forms. UK forms usually split the address into house number, street, town, county and postcode. Generated lines give you something to paste into each field and check that the postcode box accepts the space.
  • Staging data with a regional spread. Because the county is real and picked at random, a batch of 15 lands across the whole UK rather than clustering in London.
  • Sign-ups that demand an address. A fake UK address keeps your home address out of a mailing list you didn't want to join.
  • Mockups and screenshots. "332 Annie Passage, Garnettborough" looks like data; "123 Test Street" looks like a placeholder.

How real UK addresses are written

Royal Mail's preferred layout puts each element on its own line: recipient, house number and street, locality (if needed), post town in capitals, then the postcode on the last line. A real example of the structure is 10 Downing Street, LONDON, SW1A 2AA. The county has been optional since 1996 because the postcode already pins the location; this tool includes one anyway because many forms still ask for it. House numbers on real British streets are typically one to three digits, so a five-digit number is an easy sign that a line came from a generator.

The postcode does the real work. Its first one or two letters name the area (M for Manchester, EH for Edinburgh, CF for Cardiff, BT for all of Northern Ireland), the digits pick a district, and the three characters after the space narrow it to a few houses. If you only need that part, the Random UK Postcode Generator has a fuller breakdown of the format.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a real UK address?

No. The county is real and the postcode is correctly formatted, but the street, town and postcode letters are generated, so the line doesn't correspond to an actual property. Don't use it for deliveries, registrations or anything that verifies against the Postcode Address File.

Can I generate an address in London, Scotland or a specific county?

Not with a filter. Counties are picked at random from all four nations, so generate 15 at a time and pick the ones you need.

How many fake UK addresses can I make at once?

From 1 to 15 per click, with no limit on clicks.

Does the address include a name or phone number?

No. Each card is the street line, town, county, postcode and country only.
